Paul Ryan got busted lying about requesting stimulus money in 2009 for two Wisconsin businesses while at the same time?campaigning against stimulus spending in Congress, and now that the truth is out there Ryan says he never should have asked for the money in the first place.

The Boston Globe?reported on Tuesday that Ryan wrote letters to the Department of Energy supporting grant requests from two Wisconsin businesses "to help thousands of local businesses and homes improve their energy efficiency, agency documents show." They won the grants, which is great, but at the same time Ryan was in Congress lobbying against economic recovery packages. Remember, this is 2009 and the economy is still in the pits.?

"No, I never asked for stimulus," Ryan told WCPO-TV in Cincinnati on Thursday. It wouldn't be a good look for him, asking for stimulus, considering he's the idealogical guide of the Republican party. Those things do not mix! But then Think Progress was all, "well then, what do you call these?" They dug up the four letters Ryan wrote to the DoE.

Now that he's been officially busted, Ryan's pleading ignorance as?defense. "They were treated as constituent service requests in the same way matters involving Social Security or Veterans Affairs are handled," Ryan said in a statement. "This is why I didn?t recall the letters earlier. But they should have been handled differently, and I take responsibility for that." He didn't know they were stimulus grants, so it's okay. It was a big misunderstanding. And Obama is still wrong! "Regardless, it?s clear that the Obama stimulus did nothing to stimulate the economy, and now the President is asking to do it all over again." We think that's called having your cake and eating it too.?
