J.J. Redick only has a few more hours in an Orlando Magic uniform and will be dealt by tomorrow's NBA trade deadline.
Or so predicted NBA insider Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated on our Open Mike radio show Wednesday.
"I think J.J. Redick gets moved," Mannix said. "I think Orlando sort of sifts through the offers and come Thursday early afternoon will take the best one on the table. If the Magic can get a first-round pick -- even if it's a late first-round pick -- in return for J.J. Redick, they'll take it, if for no other reason that I don't get any sense that Orlando is going to pay J.J. between the $7-10 million per year he's going to be looking for in a 4- or 5-year deal."
I would agree with Mannix except for one caveat. Is there is a team out there willing to give up a first-round pick for what may be a three-month rental of Redick, who becomes a free agent after this season? I'm not so sure.
What do you think? Would you be OK if the Magic dealt Redick, arguably the team's most popular player, for a first-round pick?
